Setting Up Google Analytics & Tag Manager
Google Analytics (GA) and Google Tag Manager (GTM) let you track visitor behavior on your booking pages, measure conversions, and analyze your campaigns.
- Log in to Cal ID.
- Click Apps in the left sidebar.
- Filter by the Analytics category to find tracking tools.

- Find the Google Analytics card and click Install.

- Choose the account.

- Select the event types to track, or Set up later.

- Enter your Tracking ID (
G-XXXXXXXorUA-XXXXXX-Y).

- Click Save.
- In Google Analytics, click Admin (gear icon).

- Under Data collection, click Data Streams.

- Open your web data stream (or create one) and copy the Measurement ID.

- Create a property for your booking site.
- Set up events like Booking Form View, Submission, and Payment Completed.
- Conversion goals based on those events.
- Find the Google Tag Manager card and click Install.

- Choose the account.

- Select the event types.

- Enter your Container ID (
GTM-XXXXXX).

- Click Save.
- Tags for Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other tracking.
- Triggers for when tags fire (e.g., the booking success page).
- Variables to capture booking data like event type name.
Verify: check the Real-time report in GA, or use Google Tag Assistant to confirm the GTM container loads on your booking page.
- Open Event Types and click Edit on the event.
- Open the Apps tab.
- Toggle Google Analytics and/or Google Tag Manager ON.

- Paste the specific ID (
G-XXXXXXX/UA-XXXXXX-Yfor GA,GTM-XXXXXXfor GTM) and Save.
Why per-event tracking? Track high-value sales calls separately, keep team data from mixing, and fire marketing tags only for specific services.
