# Create a Phone-only Event Type

In [Cal ID](https://cal.id/home), switch an event to phone-first so guests confirm with a phone number and get details by SMS — ideal for SMS-based workflows.

| Switch to phone confirmation

1. Open **Event Types** and click **Edit** on the event.
2. Go to the **Booking questions** section.
3. Under the **Confirmation** header, on the right you'll see an **Email / Phone** toggle.

4. Click **Phone** — this makes the **Phone Number** question required.
5. Click **Save**.

| What the booker sees

The **Phone Number** field becomes mandatory, with a country-code selector for international numbers.

With **Phone** selected, meeting details are sent by SMS instead of email — great for clients who check texts more than their inbox.
