# Add Pre-Booking Questions for Events

In **Cal ID**, the **Booking Questions** section lets you customize the information bookers must provide before they can schedule a meeting with you. You can tailor these questions to gather exactly the data you need, using a wide variety of input types.

| Customizing Booking Questions

By default, Cal ID asks for a name and email address. You can add, edit, hide, or reorder fields to streamline your intake process.

|| How to Add a Question

1. **Navigate to Event Types:** Open your desired event and go to the **Advanced** tab.
2. **Locate Booking Questions:** Scroll down to the **Booking questions** section.
3. **Add New:** Click the **+ Add a question** button.

4. **Configure:** In the pop-up, select the **Input type**, set a **Label** (the question text), and provide a **Placeholder** (example text).

5. **Required Toggle:** Choose **Yes** or **No** to determine whether the booker must answer the question to proceed.

Select from a robust list of input types to ensure data is formatted correctly:

| **Email** | Collecting additional contact emails. |
| **Phone** | Capturing contact numbers for SMS or calls. |
| **Address** | Physical locations for in-person meetings. |
| **Number** | Quantitative data (e.g., "How many guests?"). |
| **Long Text** | Detailed explanations or background info. |
| **Select** | A single-choice dropdown menu. |
| **Multi select** | Letting guests pick several options from a list. |
| **Multi Email** | Inviting multiple guests to the same meeting. |
| **Checkbox group** | Multiple-choice options shown as a list of boxes. |
| **Radio Group** | Forcing a single choice from a visible list. |
| **Checkbox** | Simple "Yes/No" or "I agree to terms" confirmations. |
| **URL** | Collecting website links or social media profiles. |
| **Attachment** | Letting guests upload resumes, briefs, or screenshots. |

|| Managing Existing Questions

* **Editing:** Click the **Edit** button next to any question to change its type, label, or requirement status.

* **Hiding:** Use the toggle switch to make a question **Hidden**. This is useful for internal tracking via URL identifiers.

* **Reordering:** Use the arrow icons next to a question to move it up or down in the list.

> **Pro tip:** If you use **URL identifiers**, you can pre-fill fields for your guests by appending data to the end of your booking link. You can even **Disable input if the URL identifier is prefilled** to prevent guests from changing that specific data.

|| Booking Field Identifier

The **identifier** for a booking question is a unique text key you set when creating the question. It serves as a distinctive reference used throughout the platform wherever that question is addressed or its answers are processed.

The identifier matters most when people schedule meetings. As bookers fill out the form, their responses are tied back to the specific question via these identifiers — so each answer is unmistakably linked to its question, eliminating confusion when similar or related questions are present.

Using identifiers gives you a more organized, efficient, and error-resistant way of handling booking data, both within Cal ID and in conjunction with external systems — improving data integrity and the overall booking experience.
